Kathryn Humnick is an independent stage director, stage manager, actor, and artist based in the Twin Cities. She earned her B.A. in English Writing with a minor in Theatre Arts from Wheaton College where she spent 4 years in their theatrical ensemble “Workout.” She has trained in Larval and Character Mask under Felicia Bertch, and she participated in the Devising with Objects Workshop under Sodja Lotker as part of the 2019 Prague Quadrennial.
Kathryn produced her original adapted for stage script, Song of the Unicorn at Wheaton College prior to graduating in 2020. After returning home to MN, Kathryn worked for three years as a resident stage manager at Open Window Theatre where she also took on roles as box office manager, office administrator, lighting/sound technician, technical director, performer, and more. She is responsible for stage managing such productions as Foshay! a new musical, A Christmas Carol, a new adaptation by Emily C.A. Snyder, FRASSATI and NICHOLAS in their world premiere performances.
Additionally, Kathryn works with Bunce Performing Arts and Holy Family Academy as a director, Lyric Arts and Theatre in the Round in stage management roles, Assembly Theatre of Chicago and Caleb Conner Productions as a designer, and on cast at the MN Renaissance Festival.
Beyond the theatre, Kathryn creates as a writer, sewist, and more. Her short story “The Second Chance Dress” was recognized with a Gold Medal in the 2016 Scholastic Art and Writing Awards. One of her favorite recent projects is a set of illustrated zines, “Maybe It’s Not So Simple,” and “Things You Might Remember and Moments You Might Recall” created under Cozy Noble Press.
